Shannon Wrights had a goal to develop a dance program where special needs and typical students would take classes and perform side by side. It has also been her vision to provide dance lessons at an affordable cost. Her belief is that any individual who wants to experience the joy of dance should be allowed the opportunity to do so.
It was with this attitude that she took the necessary steps for Aspiring Attitudes to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The purpose was to raise funds to obtain and equip a studio space as well as to obtain grants and/or donations to fund scholarships for students who cannot participate in dance because of tuition cost.
Aspiring Attitudes is also affiliated with Amazon Smile. When you make a purchase with Amazon, if you will first click through the link below, Amazon will donate 0.5% of your purchase amount to Aspiring Attitudes. This is at no additional cost to you. What is Aspiring Attitudes?
Aspiring Attitudes is a non-profit integrated dance studio that encourages each student to achieve their full potential. Our goal is to provide the truest dance experience possible to both typical and special needs students, including those with severe physical and developmental limitations. We strive to achieve this goal by adapting dance instruction to meet the needs of each individual student through group classes or private lessons, and by including all students in annual recitals and local performances.
What is a nonprofit?
A nonprofit organization is a business granted tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). ... Nonprofits pay no income tax on the donations they receive or on any money they earn through fundraising activities.
Why do we need financial support?
Aspiring Attitudes brings in $1800-$2200 monthly from tuition. Monthly expenses for the studio alone are around $1400. This does not leave much extra for teacher pay or annual expenses which include:
Why don’t we just raise tuition??
We want anyone to be able to enjoy the art of dance. Dance can be an expensive extracurricular activity but the studio strives to make it affordable for as many as possible.
Aspiring Attitudes charges $30 a month for one group class per week. Other Studios charge $45-60 per month.
Aspiring Attitudes charges $55 a month for one 45 minute private lesson per week. Other studios charge $30+ for a single 1/2 hour session.
The studio wants to make private lessons affordable for those dancers who need one on one instruction versus a group setting. It also allows others to be able to afford to take both a private class and a group class each week so the dancer can get stronger and work on individual processing challenges.
